Are you ready to know my top 5 anti aging foods to eat everyday for wrinkle reversal and youthful skin? I would also mention skincare products that have these foods in them. Then let us get right into it.
But first, having good skin stems from a healthy gut. If the gut health is unhealthy, then the skin becomes unhealthy too. You might start to get dull skin that is prone to blemishes. Therefore, you will need to check your gut health first before reading this post.
Read – the link between gut health and skin problems
If you take a look around you, you will see rainbows. I am not talking about sky rainbows, I mean food rainbows. All different shades of colours of foods around us serve different purposes so it is good to know which ones serve you best in terms of health and skin.
Before getting into my TOP 5 anti aging foods to eat everyday, let us know how aging happens in the skin.
How Does The Skin Age?
There are two different ways that the skin age.
- Intrinsic Aging – Intrinsic means from the inside, this type of aging is actually the passing of years that no external factor can alter. Factors such as gravity, hormones, and genes are all part of intrinsic aging. Regardless of having a good diet, exercising, wearing sunscreen, skincare products; this aging will eventually happen. But the speed at which it happens is slow, unlike extrinsic aging.
- Extrinsic Aging – Extrinsic aging means external factors are a cause of this. External factors such as smoking, alcohol, not wearing sunscreen, bad diet, lack of exercise and stress. This type of aging is mostly in our control. This is otherwise known as aging prematurely. The skin becomes wrinkled with fine lines even at a very tender age.
Now that we know how the skin age, we must put in our best to slow down the process of aging. Here are my best 5 anti-aging foods to eat everyday for healthy and youthful skin. Also, read foods for glowing skin.

Best 5 Anti Aging Foods To Eat Everyday
1. Avocado – The Skin Moisturizer
This tropical fruit is one of the healthiest sources of good fats that help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, reduce body fat and contain antioxidants that help reduce the signs of aging. They also promote skin elasticity. You can have avocado in your salads, smoothies, and sandwiches. But eat avocado in moderation, just half avocado is enough for a day.
I call it the skin moisturizer because the fatty acids in Avocado hydrate the skin including the scalp.
For topical application, you can use avocado oil. It is rich in oleic acid, vitamin A and D, sterols, lecithin to help fade sun spots and premature aging. Apply this oil to increase skin hydration and improve skin elasticity.

2. Blueberries – The Skin Plumper
Blueberries are so small yet so powerful. It helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, improve weight maintenance and overall health. These small fruits have a powerful effect on the skin too.
They are packed with antioxidants called anthocyanins. Anthocyanins reduce the formation of the enzymes that break down collagen to keep the skin plump and radiant. They are also rich in vitamin C, which like anthocyanins help boost collagen and elastin.

3. Broccoli – The Skin Anti-inflammatory
Broccoli contains Sulforaphane which helps protect against airway inflammation in conditions such as asthma. allergic rhinitis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Brocolli is an amazing source of vitamin C that helps boost collagen to keep the skin firm and prevent wrinkles.
The oil made from Broccoli sprouts is one to look out for. It might probably be the next big thing in the market. The oil contains vitamins A, B, C and K as well as oleic acid. The fatty acids make it a great moisturizer and also an anti-aging oil.
4. Brown Rice – The Skin Gut Health
Did you know that white and brown rice are the same grain, just the degree of milling is different? The removal of the outermost layer leads to loss of nutrients making white rice starchy and brown rice chewy with lots of nutrients. Brown rice is a rich source of proteins, dietary fibres, vitamin E, vitamin B1, B3, B9 and minerals.
Brown rice is also known as low-glycemic food which supports metabolism, promotes weight loss, and improves gut health.
Enough about the health benefits, the skin benefits of brown rice water are anti-aging, protects the skin barrier in patients with atopic dermatitis, soothes sunburn and rashes.

5. Apples – All About Skin
You must have heard the phrase, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” – this is so true. Apple is a skin superfood thanks to its strong antioxidant qualities, anti-inflammatory properties. All these protect our skin against free radicals and UVB damage. The skin of apples contains the anti-inflammatory pigment called quercetin which acts as a powerful anti-aging compound. So please don’t peel apple skins, eat it all.
